"The educator must believe in the potential power of his pupil, and he must employ all his art in seeking to bring his pupil to experience this power."  Alfred Adler

Raven's Wood
Themes

Each session, we choose a new and relevant overarching theme. Our thematic programs connect to all content areas, including literacy, writing, science, history, and mathematics. We choose themes with literal and metaphorical meanings, concrete and abstract, and we have well-planned lessons. The kids direct us with interests in choices, and their teaching and learning is always honored. A few of our overarching themes include: Webs, It's All About the Food, Circles, Elements, Design and Function, Stories, Colors, Senses, Balance, Patterns, Growth, Time, and Roots. From these ideas, we create lessons that make direct connections to kids' past learning, academic curricula, and to life itself.

Study for Kids

Kids in grades K-8 attend Raven's Wood Outdoor School for Renegades 1 day a week during 10-week sessions. All kids are welcome, whether they are in public or private school, or are home-schooled. Parents seek permission from their school for their child to attend, and we can provide our curriculum when asked.
